Broken Wheel, Iowa, has never seen anyone like Sara, who travelled all the way from Sweden just to meet her pen pal, Amy. When she arrives, however, she finds that Amy’s funeral has just ended. Luckily, the townspeople are happy to look after their bewildered tourist—even if they don’t understand her peculiar need for books. Marooned in a farm town that’s almost beyond repair, Sara starts a bookstore in honor of her friend’s memory.

All she wants is to share the books she loves with the citizens of Broken Wheel and to convince them that reading is one of the great joys of life. But she makes some unconventional choices that could force a lot of secrets into the open and change things for everyone in town. Reminiscent of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, this is a warm, witty book about friendship, stories, and love.

I read this back in March on holiday and I LOVED IT!!! It’s quite a big book, but I flew through it in two days. Very small town, cute, slow drama. This novel is so sweet.

Sara travels all the way from Sweden to Iowa. She has gone all that way because she had a pen pal friend called Amy. But when Sara arrives she finds out that Amy recently died. Sara decides to stay in Broken Wheel, living in Amy’s house. The small town folk don’t really understand Sara and don’t warm to her very quickly. Sara realises that Broken Wheel, is just that, broken. Full of interesting and colourful characters but a town that needs… uplifting.

Sara decides to open up a book shop in Broken Wheel. She gets a lot of negativity towards this but some of the towns folk think her idea is great.

This book is full of charm, friendships, booklovers and life sprinkled with a cute love story of course!

If you are a lover of books and reading, cute small town stories and a soft drama with a little romance than this book is for you. Not a lot happens in this book but that’s what I loved about it.

Has anyone else read this? What were your thoughts? Katie x
