Five For Friday – Reece Witherspoon Book Club Picks

Hello everyone! Welcome to Five For Friday this week I have chosen 5x of my favourite Reece Witherspoon Book Club picks. Reece has an online book club called Hello Sunshine and I have been following it for a while now. What I love about her picks is that she chooses female only authors and in the books there is always a fantastic female leading character.

I haven’t managed to read all her picks but so far these are my top five.

1. Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
crawdad
My favourite read of last year. I cannot recommend this book enough it is so beautiful and it was one of those books I truly did not want to end, I felt like I was right there watching everything as if I was part of the story too. Kya has been known as the marsh girl most of her life. She has not had the best up bringing but finds solace and calm in nature and the marsh lands where she lives. As an adult someone she went to school with is found dead and she has been blamed. Sensitive and lonely Kya always knows what to do especially when she is in the comfort of her marshes.

2. The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo
light
This is one of the only romance novels that has actually made me cry. Lucy meets Gabe at university the day of 911. It feels like their meeting really means something because of the significance of this date. A year later they meet again and begin a world wind romance, until Gabe has to move abroad for work. This book follows both Lucy and Gabe’s lives over a 13 year period, a journey of dreams, betrayals, jealousy, and love. Will fate bring them together again?

3. The Last Mrs Parrish by Liv Constantine
parrish
This psychological thriller had me on the edge of my seat all the way through. Amber is fed up with her boring and “poor” life so she tries to become the new Mrs/ Parrish, slowly taking over her life she worms her way into the Parrish family’s luxury house, holidays and events. Her plan seems to be working until something gets uncovered… will she get found out or will she become the next Mrs Parrish?

4. Erotic Stories for Punjabi Women
erotic
This story is so unique and really funny and beautiful. It follows a group of Punjabi women who join an evening class to learn to read and write, but what they really want is to re-tell their erotic stories. There is also a mysterious murder and you get to follow quite a few characters stories. I really enjoyed reading this novel.

5. One Day In December by Josie Silver
december
This story is quite cheesy, but I read it in December and it was a lovely soppy Christmas romance about two people who see each other an find an instant connection. Laurie tries to find this mysterious bus stop man but never sees him again, until her best friend who she also lives with brings him home as her new boyfriend. Can Laurie stay quiet about her bus man or do sparks being to fly? I will say no more!

Do you follow Reece Witherspoon’s Book Club? If not click here to find out more. Do you follow any other celebrity book clubs? If you do let me know, I would love to chat about it.
Thanks for reading.

Lovely list! I don’t follow any celebrity book clubs, but I just read Daisy Jones & the Six – which has a Reese’s book club sticker on it, and I really enjoyed it. So maybe I should be following hers! I do love reading books by female authors 😊
