Hello all! Hope your 2019 has started off positive and full of good books to read! January can be such a dreary depressing month, but it is also the month of new beginnings and my birthday! So I try and stay as chipper as I can. I have actually surprised myself and read a lot all ready this year, lots of non-fiction and self-help books but that’s what January is all about.
Here is my January wrap up…
I have started off 2019 well and reading lots! Click on the links if you want to read each book review. I have read a few self-help type books as well but I haven’t listed them as I am not reviewing them at the moment.
– Bird Box by Josh Malerman
– Whiskey In A Teacup by Reese Witherspoon
– Reasons To Stay Alive by Matt Haig
– Notes On A Nervous Planet by Matt Haig
– Stories – Finding Your Wings by Heidi Allen
– Conversations With Friends by Sally Rooney
– My Sister The Serial Killer
For my birthday I went to Falmouth with a friend. We went to a burger place called The Meat Counter. I can honestly say it was the most DELICIOUS burger I have ever eaten. Though I didn’t take any photos of it. If you ever go to Falmouth go there for lunch! I must say I am not a fan of their logo!
Les Miserables BBC
I am LOVING this series of Les Miserables and it has inspired me to buy and read the book which will be a challenge but I am so excited. I think the BBC have done a great production of this sad and depressing epic tale.
As soon as my old university friends told me that Sex Education was filmed at my old campus I was SOOO excited to watch it. Just seeing the campus has bought back so many amazing and font memories of being at university. The programme is also hilarious and I love the drama and weirdness of characters. It is such a great show full of awkward teen moments and I hope they make a second season.
LIFE IN GENERAL
It was my birthday on the 24th January. Unfortunatly I had to go to work. But I did have a lovely evening with my boyfriend, sister and niece. They cooked me fajitas. I had some lovely presents, even got some books YAY! I am not a ripe old age of 28!!
My New Years Resolution is to do more self care. By the end of 2018 I was stressed, over doing it, never saying no to anyone, always on the go and I never gave any time for myself. I have realised I need to sort this out because I am already suffering with stress and I am just making things worse. I have already started meditating using the Headspace app, I go for evening walks after work, I make sure I have lots of time to read and write the blog. I am learning to say no to people and that it’s okay to just have a night in on your own and look after yourself once in a while.
Hope you all have had amazing January’s and got to read lots of books. Katie x
