Rating: ***

Synopsis:
Korede is bitter. How could she not be? Her sister, Ayoola, is many things: the favorite child, the beautiful one, possibly sociopathic. And now Ayoola’s third boyfriend in a row is dead. Korede’s practicality is the sisters’ saving grace. She knows the best solutions for cleaning blood, the trunk of her car is big enough for a body, and she keeps Ayoola from posting pictures of her dinner to Instagram when she should be mourning her “missing” boyfriend. Not that she gets any credit.
A kind, handsome doctor at the hospital where Korede works, is the bright spot in her life. She dreams of the day when he will realize they’re perfect for each other. But one day Ayoola shows up to the hospital uninvited and he takes notice. When he asks Korede for Ayoola’s phone number, she must reckon with what her sister has become and what she will do about it.

Review:
I have to admit the cover really captured me and made me want to read this book. The title, imagery and bright green just had me like a moth to a flame. I didn’t really know what to expect with this book. I read it pretty quickly as it is quite short and the very short chapters make it a really fast read.

The story is about two sisters. Korede who lives a pretty normal life, she is a nurse, she fancies a doctor at work however she does do something very unusual… she covers up her sisters murders. Ayoola the more “beautiful” charming sister is a serial killer and Korede cleans up the crime scenes and gets rid of the bodies.

At first Korede is in a bit of denial and believes her sisters lies about how her boyfriend tried to hurt her or tried attacking her, but as the story goes on Korede begins to understand that what Ayoola is doing is not an accident or anyones fault but her own.

I really loved the concept of this book, I also enjoyed the short quick chapters. But I wanted the story to have more depth. Maybe hear from Ayoola’s perspective. The book says she is a serial killer… but I wanted her to do more. There needed to be a bit more action and less romance for my liking.

The way the book is written is very quirky almost a dark comedy which I enjoyed as I haven’t really read books like this before. This book is a bit of fun and an engaging read, I just wanted more, I think it needed fleshing out a bit more so I could love the characters more or have a bit more complex and juicy story line.

I enjoyed this book but for me it hasn’t lived up to the hype. What did you think of this book? I would love to know. Katie x
