Welcome to the first instalment of Five For Friday for 2019! I am going to share 5x books I got for Christmas, I actually got 5x books exactly, no more and no less!
1. Circe by Madeline Miller
As some of you may know I LOVE greek myths. Circe is a retelling of a Greek tale and I have wanted to read it for ages! My boyfriend got me this book for Christmas, I haven’t had time to read it yet but I have had time to stare at the beautiful golden cover.
2. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
I have watched so many different versions of A Christmas Carol, my favourite of course is The Muppets one. However I have never read it before. To add to my Penguin Clothbound collection I got this pretty version of Dickens’ classic tale.
3. Notes On A Nervous Planet by Matt Haig
I have wanted to read this book for a while, I suffer from a bit of anxiety and also stress. Matt Haig writes about how humans can be happy in a 21st Century world even if there a billion different things that can cause us to be anxious, stressed and panicky. I think this book will really help me.
4. Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur
I followed the Canadian poet Rupi Kauer earlier this year on Instagram. I recently found out she had a book so asked for it for Christmas. The book is divided into four chapters, and each chapter serves a different purpose; deals with a different pain; heals a different heartache. I rarely buy or read poetry so thought this would be something to curl up with.
5. Whiskey In A Teacup by Reese Witherspoon
I have already got half way through this book. I LOVE Reese Witherspoon so much! She is a brilliant actress, I really enjoy her online book club, she produces films with a strong female lead, she has her own clothing line. She is a really inspirational, fun and powerful woman. My sister bought me her book for Christmas and I love it. So many cool things about Reese’s life as a southern american lady and I can’t wait to try out some of the delicious recipes inside. The book is also laid out beautifully, fonts, photography and lay outs it makes me want to drool!
Did you get any books as Christmas presents this year? If so what did you get? I would love to know. Katie x
