Reading In Heels – Curate Your Own Christmas Box

As some of you may know I have been a subscriber to the Reading In Heels Book monthly subscription box for just under a year now. I saw at Christmas they were advertising a curate your own Christmas box and thought this was a brilliant idea.

I created my own box of books and goodies that I fancied, which ended up being a present from my parents.

For your box you could choose from lots of different books including Michelle Obama’s new memoir, Celeste Ng’s Little Fires Everywhere and so many more. Also there was a long list of goodies such as make up, lip balms, drinks, face masks and stationery. To make your box that extra bit special. Here’s what I chose to go in mine:

Books
– Notes on a nervous planet by Matt Haig
– A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
– Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur

Goodies
– Marine Gold Face Mask
– Skin & Tonic Rose Lip Balm
– Hot Chocolate
– Mulled wine spices

You might think this box would cost a bomb but considering it included a Penguin clothbound classic, a hard back book, another book and other goodies £38 for all of this really isn’t something to sniff at. The books alone would cost this much so I felt like this was a very reasonable price considering what was included.

When I ordered the box, I stupidly forgot to choose the luxury gift box for my lovely things to be wrapped in. If you order more than 1x book then you needed to purchase the gift box. Reading In Heels contacted me straight away and gave me the choice of either getting a refund for two books or purchasing the gift box. Obviously I didn’t want to get a refund for two amazing books so I chose the gift box option. I logged back into my account and had to buy the gift box on its own which they would then add to my order. I was a big miffed at first as I had to pay the £3.00 P&P again. However without even asking a few days later I got a refund for £3.00 so I didn’t loose out on any money.

On Christmas day I was so excited to open my box. I know I knew exactly what was inside but I still got excited. The box was wrapped in a beautiful bow and inside it had small curly black packaging fillers to protect everything in the box.

I am so happy with my Reading In Heels create your own Christmas box and if they do this again I will be buying some for my friends. I saw on their social media on Christmas day a lot of complaints about Reading In Heels, which is a shame because I have only ever had great customer service from them, my subscription always turns up on time and I find the team who respond to emails are friendly and approachable.

I think they are a great small company and I will continue with my subscription box into 2019! I can’t wait to see what will be in January’s box. Katie x
