Even though I am supposed to be saving money for my mortgage, I have bought books! Naughty! Although 2x of these books are from a friend who just gave them to me and 2x are from charity shops so keeping the purse strings almost closed.
1. Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng
This book was given to me by a friend. She told me it really gets under your skin. I have read 3 chapters so far as part of an Instagram Book Buddy Read. It is quite haunting and beautifully written about a young girl who has gone missing and is found dead. The book explores family secrets, love, lies and race.
2. The Loney by Andrew Hurley
This is the second book given to me by a friend. It sounds like a pretty chilling read. “If it had another name, I never knew, but the locals called it the Loney – No one ever went near the water. No one apart from us, that is. I suppose I always knew that what happened there wouldn’t stay hidden for ever, no matter how much I wanted it to. No matter how hard I tried to forget….”
3. Before I Go To Sleep by S J Watson
This is a charity shop find, I have never read this or watched the film but thought the concept sounded really intriguing. Everyday Christine wakes up and has no memories, of her husband, her life or even where she is. It sounds a bit like 50 First Dates but something tells me this will be more thriller than comedy romance.
4. The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katrina Bivald
I found this one in a charity shop the cover really stood out to me. I put a pic of it on the Brunching Bookworms Insta and got a huge response. So many people have told me that it’s a really good novel so I can’t wait to read this one.
5. The Other Woman by Sandie Jones
I bought this earlier in the week and have already finished and reviewed it. If you would like to read my review click here. This book is a page turning thriller about a villainous mother-in-law.
Have you read any of these novels? What did you think of them? What has been in your most recent book haul? Let me know I would love to chat. Katie x
