Today’s Top Ten Tuesday topic (hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl) is the Top Ten Bookish Worlds I’d Want to Live In. I’m hoping I have picked some places that other people haven’t, some of them aren’t necessarily “worlds” just fictional places I could see myself living in.
1. Middle Earth
From JRR Tolkein’s Lord of the Rings
I wouldn’t just live there I would want to be transformed into a Hobbit or an Elf and live in the dells of Hobbiton or the forrest of Rivendell!
2. The Chocolate Factory
From Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
I would just live in the factory with the oompa lumpas stuffing my face and getting fat, testing all the weird and wonderful delightful treats and hopefully become friends with Charlie and Mr Wonka. Maybe I would invent my own sweets too!
3. Lyra’s World and Cittagazze
From Phillip Pullman’s Dark Materials
I would love to live with Ayra and have my own daemon, not sure what mine would be actually but I would love to live there be friends with the polar bear and go on adventures.
4. In The Night Circus
From Erin Morgennstern’s The Night Circus
I would LOVE to live with the night circus and travel around the world doing magic everyday. Literally The Dream!
From Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
Full of amazing, wonderful, odd and curious creatures. I think it would probably turn me mad living there but it looks like a fun place to live for a while. I could grow massive, tiny, have tea parties with the Mad Hatter, play with the Cheshire Cat, get advise from The Caterpillar.
6. Longbourne in Hertfordshire
From Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice
A little more conservative than my other picks plus its not a fictional place in the UK but I have always wanted to try on the dresses from this era. Women didn’t have a lot of choices or freedom but Elizabeth Bennett definitely had no fear in doing or saying what she wanted. I would love to live in their house with them and wear those clothes, read books all day and go to balls. I would probably try and steal Mr Darcy off Elizabeth!
From J.M Barrie’s Peter Pan
I’m not sure how I would actually feel never growing up, but Neverland seems like a pretty fun place to live and just be carefree and have fun, minus the crocodile and Hook!
8. Jurassic Park
From Michael Crichton’s Novel
I haven’t ever read the novel but seen the films I would love to work and live on Jurassic Park minus all the scary dinosaur disasters! It would be an awesome place to live.
From Dr Seuss’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas
I would enjoy being a Who from Whoville and I would be friends with The Grinch! He may be mean but I love his grumpy, sarcastic and devious ways. Plus the Whos are pretty cute and lovely so if he annoyed me I would hang out with them.
From JK Rowling’s Harry Potter
The obvious choice I think most people would choose but everyone loves magic who wouldn’t want to be able to do magic with an awesome pet and get up to trouble fighting the enemy!
I hope I have picked some interesting and fun fictional places / worlds to live in. Would you like to live in any that I have chosen? Thanks for reading Katie x
