Five For Friday – Top YA Books

To celebrate Teen Literature Day which occurred yesterday, I thought for this weeks Five for Friday post it would be a good idea to give you my Top Five YA books. I am a big fan of the YA genre and don’t feel like you have to be a teenager to appreciate and love these books. A study in 2012 found that 55% of YA books are bought by adults! Myself included, I think I enjoy YA books more now at the age of 27 than when I was actually a teenager.

Anyway here are my top five, in no particular order.

1. Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman

2. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

3. The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins

4. His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman

5. The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

Looking at my choices I feel they are really generic and the “obvious” I didn’t even feel the need to explain why I like these 5x as most people have read or at least heard of all of these. I’m not ashamed that I like any of these novels but I know there are some really great new YA novels out that that I should probably be reading and have heard so much about like The Cruel Prince, The Hate U Give and Children of Blood and Bone. If you think I should definitely read these let me know, or suggest some other amazing YA novels that I can get stuck into that I may not have heard of, I would be really grateful. I want to expand my love for this amazing genre. So please help! As always thanks for reading. Katie x
