On 28th March my fiancé and I went to Marco Pierre White in Plymouth, we don’t go to places like that very often but we were celebrating our engagement. I told the restaurant that when I made the booking, and when we got there we were greeted with “congratulations” which was lovely, the waitress took us to our table and took our coats.
Marco Pierre White is on the penthouse of the Crowne Plaza, and the views are fab, we sat on a high table in the window overlooking the hoe, it was a nice sunny day which made it lovely.
The waitress was so attentive and chatty. We ordered our drinks and browsed the menu, there is a lot of choice on the menu for all sorts of allergies and intolerances, it is however, a little on the pricey side.
For starters I chose French onion soup which is my absolute favourite, and Mike chose baked camembert. The food arrived promptly and was delicious! The soup was served exactly how they do in France with big croutons covered in cheese and the look of the camembert made my mouth water!
Main courses were wild mushroom gnocchi for me, and a burger for Mike. The presentation of the food was great and like the staters it was delicious. Portion sizes are good, which you don’t expect in a place like that but it was just right.
When we were finished the waitress was in no rush to see us out the door, which you can find in some places, so we ordered another drink and just sat and chatted, the atmosphere was very relaxed and it was quite quiet which was lovely. The waiting staff were so attentive to everyone I noticed, the service really is top class, the restaurant wasn’t busy but there were 2 members of staff on (one on the bar and one in the restaurant) but they didn’t make anyone wait for their orders and were easy to call over if need be. You could see they take a price in what they do.
For a special occasion I would highly recommend this place, the food and friendly staff definitely make the slightly higher than normal prices very worth it.
Let us know if you have been, or you are going there soon. We would love to hear your thoughts! Dee 🙂
